The Migration Series, Panel no. 21: Families arrived at the station very early. They did not wish to miss their trains north.

This is another panel from the series in which Lawrence depicts the actual journey of the migrants from the South to the North. The horizontal brushstrokes rest perpendicular to the very vertical, upright figures. There is a tone of quiet anticipation in this panel, as the five figures waiting for the train with their backs to the viewer us into the image, as if we are always waiting for the train.
