The Migration Series, Panel no. 3: From every southern town migrants left by the hundreds to travel north.

This panel of The Migration Series depicts the actual journey of the migrants northward. The mass of people weighed down with their luggage are in direct contrast with the birds flying freely above them, highlighting both the difficulty of the migrants journey as well as their search for their own liberation. In the series’s typical manner, the Lawrence’s figured are swallowed up in their clothes with their heads down and with very few distinctive features.
